Gene Takagi is a principal with NEO Law Group and contributing editor of the Nonprofit Law Blog. At NEO, Takagi has represented over 800 nonprofit organizations on corporate, tax, and charitable trust law matters, including on myriad governance issues. In other roles, he has taught as an adjunct professor, most recently at Columbia University, and managed operations at well-known nonprofit and for-profit organizations. Takagi is also a board member of BoardSource and The Nonprofit Quarterly, an advisory board member of the National Center on Philanthropy and the Law, and a planning committee member of the Western Conference on Tax Exempt Organizations. In 2016, Takagi was recognized by the American Bar Association Nonprofit Organizations Committee as Outstanding Nonprofit Lawyer. Takagi is a graduate of UCLA School of Law and holds a graduate degree in nonprofit administration from the University of San Francisco.
