Member Organizer, Washington Baltimore News Guild Local 32035 TNG-CWA
Esteban Gil grew up in Pasadena, California, the son of Argentine immigrants, and a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. He moved to New Orleans over six years ago and has been working for a large mission-driven legal nonprofit in the Deep South, where beginning in 2019 he helped–along with many others–to organize over 250 workers in several offices across the Deep South into a union, affiliated with the Washington Baltimore News Guild Local 32035 TNG-CWA. Gil has a background in community organizing, having participated in the Indignados mass movements in Spain in 2011, the Occupy Movement later that year, and was a founding member and organizer of the Stop LAPD Spying Coalition. Gil is a lifelong supporter of the labor movement–coming from a union family–and is also a member-at-large in good standing of the Industrial Workers of the World.
